Taking a drive with our new car, we headed out to Malibu for lunch at Geoffrey's. We were there at the perfect time, just before the real lunch crowd. We got a prime table, up front, closest to the view of the ocean.

We had a starter of champagne and oysters. There were very difficult to resist, given our surroundings! The oysters were delicious and we just had to have a second serving! We followed with a starter of tuna tartare and mains of a steak sandwich for me, and a chicken sandwich for Azrael.

There were lots of beautiful people at Geoffrey's, but no celebrities (that I recognised anyway).

On our way to the beach, we needed to stop for petrol. As we were about to pull into the petrol station, Azrael was gawking at the Aston Martin coming from the other direction, and obviously gave the Aston Martin right of way into the petrol station. It really is a gorgeous car!! As a joke, Azrael said "I wonder which celebrity drives this car". Lo and behold, out steps the incredible Pierce Brosnan!! We pumped petrol behind Pierce Brosnan!!!

He looks every bit as imposing in person, although slightly rougher at the edges and not as well dressed. Unfortunately, we are just too Swiss, so we did not approach him for a photo. Such idiots!! I felt so embarassed, even stealing a few pictures from the distance of our car! But of course I regretted it afterwards and am still kicking myself for not asking for a photo :-(

After our little bout of celebrity spotting, we headed to the Surfrider Beach and the Malibu Pier, hoping to catch some surf action. Unfortunately, it just wasn't really happening. I guess the surfers have to work too!

We then stopped by at the Getty Villa on our way back to LA. We were quite late getting there, about an hour before they close. The great thing was that we were granted free entry so that was cool! I didn't find the villa all that interesting. There are definitely some great sculptures but the style of art was not really to my taste. I did however enjoy the herb garden. They had the full array of herbs and some fruit and vegetable plants. I love rubbing the herbs and releasing their aroma!

As we were moving hotels tonight, we decided to head into Downtown LA for dinner. What's the reasoning, you may ask? Well, since LA is humongous, we tend to explore only the area around our hotel. Therefore, we would not really trek all the way into Downtown just for dinner, especially with the huge array of choices in West Hollywood! So we decided to have one last Korean BBQ dinner, LA style!

This time, we went to check out Soowon Galbi, which was originally my top choice but was fully booked last time we were here, way back on 12 September! We were smart this time and called ahead for a reservation. We were also clearly wiser, after 5 weeks in the US.... we ordered only 2 dishes, compared to 3 on our very first day! We had the marinated short rib and the beef Bulgogi and of course the Chim Chirum (some kind of Korean wine). It was a tough call, pitting Soowon Galbi against Park (the first Korean BBQ we had this trip). The short rib at Soowon Galbi was better but the Bulgogi at Park was head and shoulders about the Bulgogi at Soowon Galbi. So it was a case of them just being different. Our meal was as always delicious and I was very happy with our decision to drive into Koreatown just for dinner!
