Driving along Highway 1 towards Cambria, we had to pass the strip of motels in San Simeon where we stayed last night. There was quite a queue of cars driving at the speed limit of 55mph (90kmh), when out of nowhere, a stupid rat-like, big-eyed miniature Chihuahua tried to cross the road right in front of us. Azrael slowed down for the idiot-pooch to cross, but he then decided to back off and stand in the middle of the road, staring wide-eyed at us! He was directly in the path of our right tyre, and I was certain that Azrael was either going to run him over, or cause an accident by braking too suddenly. As I braced myself, quick-thinking Azrael saw that there was no traffic on the other side of the road, and swerved onto the oncoming lane to avoid the idiot-pooch. Behind us, the jeep had to swerve the other way to avoid him!!! What a stupid dog and where the hell was the stupid-er owner?!?!?!!?!

Phew! No dog brains on Andy.... we continued to Leffingswell Landing near Cambria. Apparently, it is a great spot to watch sea otters and migrating whales. Once again, it was pretty pointless without binoculars. Nevertheless, the beach is one with ragged rocks, and we enjoyed just hanging out, watching and listening to the waves crash in.

We'd planned to stay and wait for sunset, but it didn’t look as if we were in for a good sunset as it was pretty cloudy. So we decided to make our way to the campground in Morro Bay, and perhaps try for a sunset there.
