Walking through a near empty Frankfurt airport, I find a spot to change some euros and head to the nearest coffee shop. The Lufthansa flight was interesting in that, for the first time in easily fifteen years, i was given metal cutlery to use on a plane. The food was quite good as well and the drinks, as always, were plentiful. As i sipped my coffee i wondered if it was the lack of sleep and jet lag or the five rum and cokes on the plane that was causing me to feel like my head was going to explode.
After a the second hour at Frankfurt, the announcement of the gate to Kiev came over the loud speakers. Once reaching the gate, i see the blond from Calgary lined up. As we make eye contact, i give a nod and quick tip of the hat, which received a smile and nod back. Nervousness gets the better of me, and i resist the urge to strike up conversation.
Before i know it, I'm on the plane and taking off to Kiev.
