So here's the story. About nine years ago I worked with some friends in an autoboy shop. During that time, there was a week where the ventilation system went down and we were swimming in paint fumes. It was during that time that Davetopia came into being. We decided that we would all travel the world together, and finish the trip in a country like the Philippines, where there are more than enough available islands that we could each claim one as our own. Mine was Davetopia.
And so for one week, my paint fume soaked brain conceived a flag. The story continues years later at a sort of reunion where we reminissed about our times in that shop and the crazy ideas we had. Only I was able to say that I turned my paper flag into a PDF design that I used for my company, 7th World Entertainment, and later printed into a flag that I took with me on my travels. Impressed that I actually followed through with a paint trip they convinced me that Davetopia would cease to become a reality unless one thing was done, we needed a currency. "A national currency is a symbol of sovereignty and the key to the pursuit
of an independence". It was true, and so it began, without the fumes this time, constructing a currency. I would have four bills, $1, $5, $10, $20, and they would represent the four things important to me, Exploration, Music, Literature and Science. Exploration was easy, Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) from The Life Aquatic. For literature, it was a toss up, Tolstoy is a favorite of mine but I seemed if I was gonne do this I should have fun with it, therefore, Jules Verne. A visionary who's futuristic ideas would set the mold for how the people of Davetopia should think.
And this is where the story ends for now.
