For the last two days, we have been sailing around the Turquoise Coast - that is what this part of Turkey is called. The water really is turquoise - you can see the bottom and also see lots of fish. Yesterday we walked around the town of Fetiyhe and rode bumper cars and got more Turkish ice cream. It was the last day of Ramazan, so lots of people were out with their families and there were guys walking around drumming. There was also pictures of Ataturk everywhere.

We sailed to an island last night where I kayaked and swam some more and then fell asleep right after dinner.

This morning, we did not have to leave early, so we hiked up the island. It was kind of tough, because there was not a real path and the rocks were slippery, but we made it to the top and could see in all directions. Then we sailed over to another cove that is really beautiful. It has a little beach with white smooth rocks and it was really hot outside. I jumped off the gangplank and we also tried to spearfish again. We saw a beautiful striped fish with bright blue fins, which Luqmin said tastes delicious, but we could not catch it.

This afternoon, I played backgammon and cards with Luqmin and tried to windsurf. It was really hard. I will try again tomorrow. Then we hiked up a mountain in the cove where we are anchored. There were some hunters coming down the trail with dogs and guns. One of them stopped me and asked me something in Turkish. Then he asked me my name in English. When I told him Zola, he said, "Like Emile Zola!" He told us he was the mayor of Gocek, the town nearby and welcomed us to his town. He had been quail hunting and he asked if we wanted any. We did not take any, but he was very nice. We had great views from the top of the mountain and also found an abandoned stone house.
