We arrived in Aspen just in time to watch the almighty Razorbacks of Arkansas lose to the Bison of Bucknell! It was a somber start to our day, but visiting with my brother Tim and sister-in-law Jen and celebrating Connor's first birthday more than made up for the end of my basketball season. After checking in to the Annabelle Inn, a wonderful hotel on Main Street, we headed for a scrumptious dinner up the Valley in Basalt. The next morning, Tim guided Zoe and me through the snowy woods on a cross country ski trail that led to the Pine Creek Cook House, a trail Zoe and her father had skied in years past. There were four falls, none by my brother Tim. Not to focus on culinary delights too much this entry, but we must say our favorite bakery in the continental United States has to be Paradise Bakery at the base of Ajax in Aspen.I would actually trade Zoe for a lifetime supply of their brownies. We were sad to say goodbye to the Aspen Lambs, especially after Tim's pancakes, but we had to depart in order to make it past Vail Pass before the next storm hit. We're currently snowed in in Colorado Springs where we hope to make it out of the hotel in order to visit Zoe's high school, Fountain Valley (shout out to Mark Slusar!) which is the starting point for how we met. The forecast is for 6-12 inches before the storm is over so I have a feeling we will be extending our stay.

Upcoming stops: Denver, Jackson Hole (again!), Dodge City, Little Rock, Asheville, and the end of the line, Warrenton
