First of all, thanks for being interested in our road trip, and please know we understand the blog is an exercise in vanity...please forgive us. We beseech you all to email us with any suggestions for places to visit along our route be they barbecue joints, museums, or distant aunts who owe you money (the end of each blog will let you know our next couple of stops). And so it begins...

After loading up in Warrenton on Saturday morning (sans dogs), Zoe and I bid farewell to her parents and immediately proceeded in the wrong direction! I would like to officially place all blame on the Navigatrix (Zoe). However, since her sense of direction is infinitely better than mine, I have no legs to stand on. We took scenic 81S to Asheville, and after a brief respite (thanks Mom and Michelle for the cinnamon rolls!) continued on to Atlanta where we visited the new Georgia Aquarium whose main attractions are the whale sharks (is it a whale? is it a shark?) and the beluga whales (see photos if interested). However, we were most impressed by the squid collection and the leafy seadragons (again see photos). We're currently in Athens, GA (home of the University and various statues of bulldogs) visiting Zoe's friend Rebekah. Tomorrow we're climbing Stone Mountain to pay homage to our southern roots and to worship the largest known granite outcrop in the US.

New Orleans dining
Hello intrepid travellers! When you get to NO, see if Maspero's is open in the Quarter for muffalettas (sic.) I'm dreaming of having one for lunch right now. I'm going to enjoy keeping tabs on you.

900 miles already, slow down and see the sites
Hey Road Warriors! Looks like you two are covering a lot of ground, but you need to slow down and soak in the little towns. Make sure you hit the night life in Houston, if you like jazz you can have a ball. Don't be scared to hit the back alley jazz clubs, you won't regret it.

One small question about the pic's of sea creatures, are you sure that's a squid, looks more like a jelly fish. :)
