Where I stayed
12:43 Sun! The sun is out today! Even though at about 6am it was dark clouds and rain outside.
We rented a bike rode around following the lonely planet bicycle tour plan which took in the palace, Wat Sisaket, victory gate of vientiane (like the arc d'triumph in paris), some wats etc.
14:04 The sun has been beating down on us for hours as we gently peddle around trying not to get overly hot. We rode past Swensons which is an ice cream parlour and immediately stopped for ice cream which ended up being a substitute for lunch. Yum!
Further ride along beside all the wats, and there are SO MANY wats its actually ridiculous - just look at a map of vientiene and see how many there are in such a small space then along riverfront and back to room for more updates. Have nearly caught up!
Got my little daybag repaired as I had a massive hole in the front, a bumped into Paul and Jane who decided not to leave until
Tomorrow which is great and we've got the same bus to vang vieng. We thought it would be more fun floating down the river/going tubing together anyway.
I returned to my room to relax and have a cold shower as it's so damn hot and then had a local dinner of yellow curry with pork which was pretty nice.
On returning to the room I was awake for ages because it was sweltering hot and the fan only goes in circles which means the beautiful cooling breeze only passes you by every few seconds. Just after midnight, having got to the point of just being really pissed off that I was so hot and there was no way I was cooling down, I went for a cold shower and returned to bed feeling a little better.
Best: it was a nice day
Worst: being far too effing hot to the point of grumpiness
Beautiful: some of the buildings and all of the wats.
