12:10 It's Saturday, a fact I only really know because I need to be aware of when the workers will descend upon the places I may visit. So I figured Saturday will be my day of rest. So duely I slept until 11. I woke up about 9 in fact but lay there, thought about what i may do today then dozed and eventually fell asleep again.

After getting up I knew I'd have to seek a cheap lunch, so back to Royal's Pub armed with an actual book- The Pillars of the Earth. This will be my first attempt at an actual book since I left, and it's a very very big book about 2 inches thick in fact. Also armed with a swimming costume and flip flops I will be spending a lazy day by the pool of the yacht club (not sunbathing because this is a pointless activity for skin that refuses to do anything brown except create freckles). Sitting in the shade in the quiet will be my terrible chore for the day. I may well write nothing else today now!

14:08 Ok, so following the revelation that i have never read the hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy, on my way to the yacht club I passed through a shopping centre and encountered a book shop. So, I wandered in and found said book and now own it! I shall let you know what I think!

15:54 Ah, after reading up to page 28, I see the significance of the towel.

16:07 I'm glad I came to the yacht club today. According to Accuweather it's 30 degrees, so being next to the pool in my cossie, with the hitchhikers guide and a cold drink, lounging on the sunbed - it's really very pleasant!
There are lots of families here with young children which is good to see.
No one has come over to me to talk or anything so I'm just enjoying some quiet time in the relative luxury of it all.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is stormy, so perhaps my sightseeing will resume on Monday, however I get my new china visa then and should really take it round to the Vietnamese embassy to get that visa sorted out.

I'm really not sure how I'm going to book my train other than just turn up and hope for the best. I quite like the sense of freedom in that, which is the complete opposite to how I've lived up until this point - with plans. I like spontaneous things sometimes.

22:00 After the yacht club I went back to the hostel for a shower and change because I was going to go to Roy and Sara's for dinner.

I arrived just after 7.30 and was greeted warmly by everyone, a glass of wine and the delicious smells coming from the kitchen.

Sitting down to dinner was the high point of my day. Cheese pie, roast chicken, roast potatoes and salad. Normally I don't have seconds at meals, but this was all just so delicious I had thirds, of everything! And as if thirds wasn't enough, Sara had also made a lemon mousse on a biscuit base. I had seconds of that!
Sara is an amazing cook and I was able to fill my boots with it all until I was full!
Also the problem of the booking of the train may cease to be a problem as Sara has helped me figure it out and asked her sister help too. Which is fantastic. We're going for Dim Sum on Good Friday together too as I've not not managed it yet.

It was a great night!

Best: cheese pie!

Worst: bit hot outside

Beautiful: sitting by the blue pool relaxing

I had to post before I read the rest of your update as I've just finished Pillars of the Earth. Brilliant book, really. 1100 pages of page-turning excellence. Can't wait to read the follow up

I shall carry on reading the rest of your update now

Hitchhikers guide, good book!! Im mid way through it!

Hitchhiker's guide - entirely appropriate for anyone travelling. Douglas Adams had a great sense of humour and is sorely missed.
