11:45 So I didn't sleep last night. My throat was so painful. I looked at it during one of the several times I got up inthe night and there were yellow pustules all over. Its much worse today so I'm going to have to go to the hospital and see the doctor.

Having taken the bus to the station I came into takeda hospital. I looked lost as I wandered over to the first desk I saw and asked for a doctor. They sent me to an information desk where they gave me a form and asked me to fill in my name, nationality, mark on a picture where it hurt, and tick boxes like "I have a fever", "I've caught a cold" etc. I handed it back and the 2 girls behind the desk tried to convert the sound of my name into Japanese text, which was quite amusing as they repeated it several times and tried to decide how to write it. One handed me a thermometer to put under my arm and told me my temp was over 37 I think, whatever I was, I asked if it was high and she said yes. She then took me to get a mask out of the vending machine so here I am, in a quarantined area with my mask on. I have to wait 2 hours to be seen. I'm in such pain and am so tired I just want to cry. This feels as bad as when I had tonsilitis the first time when I was about 15 and had to come back from school. I think I lay in bed for a week, I couldnt even swallow my spit and barely ate because it was so sore. I had my family to look after me, but now I must look after myself.

I'm due to check into another place in Osaka in a couple of days, on the 11th in fact, so I'll stay where I am for now and rest and be grateful i bought my netbook full of films and tv series, then on the11th I'll slowly an carefully take myself to Osaka. It's only 15 min on the train, what a waste of a pass, gutted. I'm just worried about keeping up my strength to carry everything. My bag isn't at it's lightest yet because it's still so cold. I'm not sure how long it will take to get better, and I am also concerned that I might have another relapse. I so it's game over after only 1 month. It might not happen so I'm not stressing about it. If it happens then it happens and I'll deal with it then. In the meantime, japan had become a write off and I must get better for my trip round china starting on the 13th. At the end of that, when I get to Hong Kong, then I can malinger all I want. I had a thought this morning that if it had happened then, I might well have gone back to the hospital I was born in. That would have been funny.

13:25 I've seen the doctor, he's giving me lots of drugs it seems. 1 antibiotics, 1 for inflammation of throat, 1 for my stomach because one of the others makes you feel sick, and something else as well. All for 5 days. I asked for a medical report because I need it for insurance, I guess they'll just have to lump it if it's in Japanese. I hope it doesn't cost too much, I have 100 excess, but I have no idea what this will cost.

14:02 Cost 6480 at the hospital, it says the treatment is for a common cold in his report. I think not!! awful tonsillitis more like.
I then spent over 4000 on medication.
Well I suppose im not paying for transport and sightseeing at the moment.
To think, that one drunken night whilst I was already tired has caused this. It's not worth it. Alcohol is not worth it. I now ban any more than one glass of alcohol from my life, and you've all been there to read why, so don't ask me to drink more - you have seen what can happen.

15:25 3 and a half hours I've been out, now I'm having some lunch and every swallow hurts my throat and my ears funnily enough...ok, its not funny, what an expression to use eh.

16:03 Ive paid my 5200 for 3 more days here and come to bed, I asked for another discount, but they couldn't but they did have a present for me...2 free tickets for a days bike ride, and a free go on the kareoke. I did point out that these were absolutely useless to me as I plan to stay in bed for the next few days. he looked a bit wounded that I rejected his present. I'll prob stay here for the next few days. In bed that is.

I've been watching some tv in bed - actually watching "The Pacific" - which is the Band of Brothers/Saving Private Ryan equivalent to the war in the pacific between the Japanese and Americans. So I'm being a bit cultural and learning something about where I am.

I popped out to the supermarket which is next door conveniently, and picked up a pre-prepped meal. Egg fried rice and a meat - turns out to be egg fried rice and sweet and sour/fruity pork. But my god it's difficult eating rice with chopsticks. What a ludicrous idea. I finished it off by basically putting my face in my rice.

my room mate has just come in. By god his feet absolutly stink, and that is coming from someone with a marginally blocked nose. Ewwww!

I;ll end there, my best and worsts are a bit pointless today, and may well be for a few days. All I can really tell you is my random thoughts whilst I lie in bed swallowing spiked golf balls.

Syonara for today
