09:31 A summery of Russia

I think a lot of people wondered why I wanted to travel across Russia in winter. Simple really, I've always associated it with winter and knew a little of some of the beautiful buildings they have here and wanted to see it for myself.

The journey I've had has been amazing. I've seen some really stunning architecture, ad well a galleries. I've met some lovely people, both travellers and guides alike, and I've been absolutely blown away by what I've seen. Yes Russia isn't the easiest country to get to, but my god I'd recommend this trip either in winter or summer. In fact I intend to return sometime in the summer to see the contrast and the beauty from a different angle. It's not your typical holiday destination by any means as you cant just go to thompsons holidays, pick up a brochure and say, 'oh yeah, Russia, let's go there'. I'm not even sure it appears in holiday brochures due to the lingering soviet/communism policies etc. I do recommend it though, and in particular Lake Baikal which I was very sorry to leave.
I wasn't sure i'd come back to Russia again, I seemed more of a one off, whilst the likes of Thailand is somewhere you might take many holidays. I was wrong, I know I will return, and I'd encourage everyone else to give it a try too.

OK Zoe, I'm sold! I think I'm going to add this to my list of travels... I'm so jealous of all your snowy activity and it does sound like you're having a wonderful time. I really appreciate you taking the time to blog your adventures, you write so well that I feel like I'm holiday with you.

Would you like any news from the home front? Nothing too exciting to report at the moment here. Very exciting events in the middle east, do you catch the news over there? Any international papers or news stations in english? BBC world service?

Keep posting those pictures!

Love,
Chris.
