We arrived at Yellowstone National Park on sunday and spent 2 days in the park. Firstly we saw the Mammoth Hot Springs and while we were about a mile away from the car in shorts and T shirts, we were caught in a storm. There was loads of thunder and lightening and we got soaked! After a quick change back in the car, we drove along to the upper and lower falls and the Yellowstone Canyon. As you can see from one of the photos this is how the park got its name. We then stopped off at some geysers which smell like rotten eggs, but look pretty clear blue and bubble away.
The second day we drove back into the park and headed straight for Old Faithfull. Luckily we arrived at the right time, as we only had to wait about 15 minutes before it errupted. (It goes off every 90 minutes on average) We have attached a clip of the erruption (although the video is on its side! but if it doesn't play, we have a still photo too!) We the drove over to Yellowstone lake, which was massive and also really clear. On the drive we saw an elk on the side of the road (It was the only animal we saw in the whole park!), which happily posed for the photo. We then travelled out of the park, via the south entrance and through Teton Park, which had these amazing mountains. (although they don't look real in the photos!) ((Ryan you would really love taking photos up here. LOL!!))
We have now headed down to Salt Lake City and will keep you updated soon.
