Not a very interesting day as most of it was travelling across to the south island although we did have the joy of Ronan Keating been played for the whole ferry journey. Had a fabulous roast dinner and wine tasting in the evening.
DAY 10 NELSON TO WESTPORT
We went to Nelson Lakes National Park on the way to Westport and saw amazing views of the mountains! I went on a run to the beach (nearly died as I haven't exercised in months!) and dropped my memory cards on the way so had to go looking for them - idiot!
DAY 11 WESTPORT TO LAKE MAHINAPHA
We headed down the west coast today and went on a few walks. The first one was to a lighthouse and then another where we saw a seal colony and blowholes at Pancake Rocks. We went to the 'poo pub' that evening where we had to create a fancy dress outfit out of a black bin liner. Rachel and I did 60s dress creations but some of the other guys had really good outfits. we had a steak dinner and I tried venison which was quite nice actually.
DAY 12 LAKE MAHINAPHA TO FRANZ JOSEF
We went to the Bushman centre where we saw a strange hunting conservation video. Mike fede Toko (this huge pig) and he looked petrified! Arrived in Franz Josef, went to the spa and then to bed.
DAY 13 FRANZ JOSEF
We woke up early for the half day glacier walk. It was so funny getting kitted up - huge socks, heavy boots, trousers tucked in...we looked a treat! It was quite hard work walking but we did have spikes on our shoes so we didn't slip! I ached after but we chilled in the spa, had a few drinks and played hardcore snap and other card games!
DAY 14 FRANZ TO WANAKA
We stopped for more pictures on the way to Wanaka (the scenery is amazing in NZ) and then checked in at the Wanaka Hotel. We went out to Red Rock and drank lots of red wine. After more partying 4 of us decided to stay another night and get the bus the following day.
DAY 15 WANAKA
Had such a lazy day! Stayed in bed most of the day which was fab seen as though we've been getting the bus early every morning. The four of us - Mike, Andy, Rachel and I made a chicken curry and then went to see Wanaka Fest where we saw a cool band, Rhombus play.
DAY 16 WANAKA TO QUEENSTOWN
We headed to Puzzling World first which had an amazing shop! I bought a jigsaw for school (if i ever teach!)Rachel and I went to the 42 degrees below world cocktail competition which was cool. we watched a few countries make cocktails but it got too cold so we headed back. Went to Altitude bar all night and partied with 3 other kiwi bus groups. Met up with James again (Sheffield friend)!
DAY 17 QUEENSTOWN
Hangover day!
DAY 18 QUEENSTOWN
Crazy times in Queenstown! Didn't really do much other than drink! Oh yeah...I got my tattoo done in Queenstown. Thanks so much Claire and Rachel for coming in with me! I couldn't have done it without you!
DAY 19 CHRISTCHURCH
I left Queenstown early with Mike after a mad night out! A boring travelling day.
DAY 20 CHRISTCHURCH
Went shopping and bought some cool clothes - a dress, a top, a jacket and 2 belts. I had no idea how it was all going to fit in the backpack but I wanted it! Had a Starbucks and gazed meaningfully into my coffee at the thought of going home!
DAY 21 CHRISTCHURCH TO HONG KONG
Boring flights!
