Greetings! Very glad to be off the plane and at my first wwoof host! So it's been quite an adventure. The plane ride was very long but worth every second of it. A couple of really serendipitous events happened. I met a fellow travellers whom also bought a one-way ticket and is wwoofing and turns out she is also a virgo and lives just north of Seattle, one of my hometowns. : ) We had a layover in Tahiti, that airport is awesome, we got off the plane at 5 in the morning and it was hot and humid! But we were greeting by beautiful island girls giving out flowers accompanied by an island style band. Got to take a nap in the airport and woke up just in time to leave!
When I got to New Zealand everything went great with customs, no problems and I am allowed to stay for upto a year and didn't have to buy a return ticket. We took a shuttle to downtown and got off at the farmer's market with all these craft vendors. Downtown Auckland remind me of a mix between Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC. It's a pretty busy downtown but seemed to be filled with lots of hostels and young people. I am excited to go visit more tomorrow.
While I was down there I ran into a Hare Krishna, he was the first person I talked to. The strange thing is, three years ago I went to a Krishna temple in Sacramento, CA and that was the first place I heard about wwoofing and also became a vegetarian there. So it's weird that's the first thing I run into here!
We got onto a bus in downtown and ended up getting dropped off a ways from the wwoof farm and didn't really know where we were going. Rebecca and I were looking lost and this woman came up and asked if we needed help. We told her what we were looking for and she offered to drive us there. We accepted and were on our way.
Now I am at the Dorje Chang institute which is the oldist buddhist center in New Zealand. It is tibetan based and is very beautiful here. I will post pictures later. There is a lot of wisdom to uncover here!
Well I am off to walk through the grounds and take a few pictures. Much love!
