One of the best things about traveling is unexpectedly meeting the most unexpected people.  My favorite is befriending fellow travelers since they're always more than willing to share their wisdom with you, and provide you with anything they can.

So Ed and I were both pleasantly surprised when we met the person least imaginable: Uncle Davros. He had lent a helping hand giving much needed advice as soon as we stepped off the plane in London, and after much emailing and chatting we managed to set up a meeting.

We met in Putney Bridge in an Australian bar called the Walkabout for a few pre-dinner drinks.  It was raining like hell so Ed and I got there early to make sure we got a table.

A bonus when Lucy showed up! She is even more beautiful in person than in her log pictures.  And David is not at all intimidating as I thought him to be: he is a warm and friendly person, very generous who's always smiling and laughing, and loves to tells stories, just like an uncle would do.

We had a great time, talking about travel and getting to know each other over incredible Japanese food at Wagamama's.  Lucy and David have lived in London for so long, they know the best places for delicious, exotic, cheap food.

David mentioned he was planning a solo weekend trip to France to go roman-ruin hunting and Ed and I decided to tag along.  We're all really looking forward to the trip, that although short, promises to be fun.  Our flights and hotel rooms are already booked so now it's just a matter of waiting for the day to arrive!

The Uncle Replies
It was great to finally meet you guys as well. You should have had the brownie in the coffee shop yesterday. It melts. I have told Karim about you, so the Lebanese restaurant is waiting for you guys. And you are right, France can't come soon enough, so get your French up to scratch as it's going to be a great weekend
