So the trip has started.  It is a blast.  Our start time was 8:00 and we left at 8:15 not to bad I think.  The only major issue we have had is that my cat Stella freaked out.  She was panting, drooling and pupils were dialated.  So when petting her and soothing her didn't help, a little tranqualizer calmed her right down.  After 30 minutes she was mellow and purring and lounging over the luggage.  She has been fine ever since.
I swear the cats have been saving up fur to shed.  At one point they were just walking around the car and rubbing covering everything in fur.  Stella realized that I had a black sweater on and was free of cat hair.  She came up sat in my lap, rubbed on me and then went into the back to sleep.  Damn cats :-)
So after being covered in fur Dad and I drove around the hotel area in Syracuse and found a KMart.  The traveling gods smiled on us and they had a special on lint rollers.

We have been lucky with traffic and hopfully that will hold.

Things to do on a trip
1.  After you have packed the car, take it for a drive and slam on the brakes a few times so that everything you packed settles into place.
2.  When traveling with a cat bring a lint brush or two so that when they cover you and the car in cat fur you have a fighting chance of getting it off.
3.  Stop and pee whenever you see a rest area, you just never know when the next one will be.
4.  If you drive long enough you will find a place to eat.
