Where I stayed
Marc-Liam's Place
I arrived in Hamburg at around 5 or so in the afternoon in the hauptbanhof and took a u-bahn to sternschanze station. The train systems here are really easy to navigate, as the public tranist (s-bahn and u-bahn) are actually in the same terminal as the main train station, so getting to where you need to go is very simple. If you can navigate the public transit systems of the states, you would have no problem here, as these are much more efficient and they even have signs that tell you down to the minute when the next train will arrive.
I waited for my host at a greek tavern, had a couple hefe-weissbiers and some delicious feta grilled with peppers and onions. He took me on a short tour of hamburg that night, where we walked through the Dom, which is very similiar to our fairs in the states, only german style. we also got to watch a fire show and drink a beer on the steps of a park with lots of other people sitting outside and feel the nice cool air. Today, I took a tour of the Elbe River and walked around various districts of Hamburg. All very nice and pictures to follow shortly!
