Pre-Departure-
Really, what good does it do anyone to read the foreign affairs travel advisories...
It's only one night & we've scored the greatest hotel.
Actual -
The airport in Bogota was pretty much the chaotic experience youŽd expect - lots of people milling around waiting for bags, trying to sell taxi service etc etc. As we were waiting, a army fatigue clad man with a very large gun was walking around looking at bags with a ... miniature poodle type dog. (yes - foofy haircut and iŽm sure it had a name like precious) Who knew that poodles were the secret weapon in the war against drugs.
We did the city tour and i have to say - i hated bogota. Maybe it was the fact that we got kicked out of the hotel restaurant for wearing flip flops, or the run down look of the buildings (except near the airport which actually resembled mississauga), but for me it was the dozens of soldiers with huge guns everywhere. Sooooooooooooo happy to get out.
