Arriving at Houston was much the same as arriving in most of the cities in America but even bigger!  Some of the freeway intersections were unbelievable and we arrived just before the evening rush hour into a fourteen lane freeway (seven lanes either side) packed with traffic - all moving but slowly.
The following day we went to The Space Center, infamous from the saying 'Houston, we have a problem.'!  There was a lot to see and we only had time to see one or two of the presentations/exhibits, especially as Steven was not on best form and wanted to play for the entire time in a play area that recommends suitability for children 4 years and older! Genius he may be, but he can't read yet, and on he went, having a whale of a time!  The only problem was getting him off to see some of the other things!
The final word on the nodding donkeys and ranches - no further ranches spotted, but we passed the entrance to a ranch just as we were leaving Texas which was a bit dilapidated and had South Fork written across the top made by the sun having faded the surrounding area and the letters having been taken off - giving it the feel in really should have after all this time!  As for nodding donkeys - not another one spotted until we reached Louisiana and then just there were just two - oil quite clearly is far higher tech than nodding donkeys these days!
