Whilst staying at Benson, we decided to visit Tombstone which, if you are up on Westerns, you will know is the place where the fight at the OK Corral took place.
This is the sort of thing that the Americans know how to do so well!  We visited a re-enactment of the fight itself, throughout which Steven behaved appallingly and we were unable to get out because we were right at the back, otherwise it would have been very interesting and enjoyable.
The main street is closed off to the traffic and all the shops maintain their facades in the character of the time.  There are horses tethered to hitching posts and stagecoaches give people rides up and down the street.  There are many people dressed as cowboys and there are several authentic bars.  We did begin to think that the line between reality and fiction had become blurred for some people - they couldn't all be actors and actresses!
Up until the re-enactment, Steven had actually been enjoying himself and we agreed it, overall, had been a good day out.  D's highlight was finding cruise control on the car!
It is a reflection of how close we are to Mexico when on our back from Tombstone we were stopped, along with every other car, by Border Control Police who wanted to see in the back of the car - a grim Steven at that point! - and wanted to see our passports.  At this point the policeman said he'd spent some time in England in Ealing and D was able to say his nan lived there.  We then got sent on our way.  There are a lot of problems with drug gangs in Mexico at the moment and they are talking about civil unrest there on the news channels here, so we assume that they were checking that who was coming into the country from the Mexican border, however we will probably never know exactly.

Re: Mini Hollywood
Indeed it did! We were very tempted to have a sepia photo taken of Stevie dressed as a cowboy, like the ones we had taken, however he wasn't in the right frame of mind!
