We continued our journey south to Sydney, but decided we'd stay a few nights in Nelson's Bay, which Estelle, from our first port of call in Sydney had recommended as it was a very safe place for small children.  Indeed she was absolutely right!  The bay was calm, the sand was white, the sea azure and clear.  Paradise!  Only drawback was the room smelt a bit musty, however this wasn't enough to put us off and we had a great time there.  D's fishing rod was put to good use and he caught some whiting and flatheads.
We also went to a petting farm where we stroked a kangaroo and some koalas, although, disappointingly D managed to get some fab photos of the koalas but only a picture of Steven's hand stroking one!   We saw some dingoes, pelicans and were able to feed some baby sheep and goats with baby bottles.  We also saw a cow being milked by hand, which enable Steven to make some suitably embarrassing comments!  The trip was topped off by a ride around the farm on a trailer.
D and Yvonne stayed up most of the night to watch President Obama's inauguration, which we were impressed with, however at 5am when we went to bed, we almost packed up straight away with the arrival of a cockroach in the shower!
