Our first stop heading south was Bundaberg.  The Bundaberg rum factory was calling us!

We booked into the Riviera Motel contemplating that the price you pay for a motel or the look from the outside bears no relation at all to the room or service received!  The place looked average, the price was below average but it had a DVD player (a godsend for Steven - endless Bob the Builder!), a separate table for dining at, separate rooms for shower, toilet and handbasin area, ironing board, a kitchenette and a salt water swimming pool.  Internet on the expensive side though!

The trip to the rum factory was excellent.  We saw the molasses well, the stills (all in action), the storage vat (inhale those fumes) and the bottling process.  Finally we sampled the wares!  D had draught rum and coke (refreshing) and Yvonne had silver label rum on the rocks (strong) and the Royal Liqueur with cream.  This was very sweet but highly quaffable, sufficient to go to the shop and invest in a bottle.
