We visited Miyajima, an island a short distance away from Hiroshima, to see the 'floating' shrine, the 'thieving' deer and the aquarium.  The aquarium in Miyajima was great except that we couldn't move Stevie on from the jellyfish which were swimming in a tank that was lit by a bulb that changed colour!  We left Hiroshima in rain but by the time we got to Miyajima the weather was sunny and warm.

We had stayed an extra two nights at the hostel and we had to change from our 'cosy' western style room to a lovely japanese style room complete with tatami flooring (matting), futon beds and a low table with appropriate seating.

Leaving the hostel in Hiroshima was sad, especially for Stevie who had a great friend in T-Jan, and they exchanged gifts - T-Jan gave Stevie some stripey socks with toes in and Stevie gave T-Jan an animal jigsaw puzzle.  T-Jan, his parents and several members of staff waved us off as we headed for the station - not something every guest has done for them!
