Having mastered the underground system, we successfully found our way to Ueno Park and in particular - the zoo.  To get to the park from the underground, we had to wander through many streets, mainly selling fish products and seaweed, although D's eye was caught by a Zippo shop and he invested in a new lighter!  Steven loved the zoo and encountered bears at first hand at last.  D seemed strangely drawn to the otters!

We have been surprised by the weather here which we understood to be similar to England but has proved to be warm (20 degrees) and sunny - almost constant blue skies.

On Friday we started on a journey to the Imperial Palace but had to jettison the lightweight D who was not feeling up to the route march round the Palace perimeter.  Steven and Yvonne continued and managed to find their way back to the hotel which has to be a major achievement.  Steven particularly enjoyed the Water Park where the fountains made a rainbow which he was still talking about at bedtime.  Whilst in the Water Park, we were asked by a japanese lady if we minded her taking a photo of Steven.  Parental permission given, Steven then proceeded, as is his won't, to be unco-operative!

During today's wanderings we encountered a number of 'clock dongs' which we will place on a separate entry especially for Steven's Auntie Danni who is a great fan of 'clock dongs'!

And finally...
The answer to question three, according to the hotel receptionist whose English is so good it just makes you feel embarrassed that you can't even utter thank you in japanese, is to prevent flu!
