Today two fun things happened.  First, Travis and I went to an Indian McDonalds for lunch.  Some of you may say that it's pretty lame of us to go to McDonalds for our first real meal in Delhi, but, to be fair, all the other restaurants weren't open when we were looking for food, and we couldn't wait because we had some other things to do before our second fun event.

Besides, and this is why it's a fun thing, Indian McDonalds is like no McDonalds you've ever experienced.  I may remind you that there is no beef in India.  This limits the number of hamburger options to roughly zero.  The menu is divided into vegetarian and non-veg options, and these are even divided on the heating trays where you watch your food go from fresh to how-long-has-my-burger-been-sitting-there?  There are veggie burgers, chicken burgers, wraps, and curry pans.  If I had been brave I would have tried a curry pan, but I was a little scared that it would taste like thick plastic.  We decided to go with the Chicken Maharaja Mac, which was also like nothing you've ever eaten, because it is rather spicy and, unlike a Big Mac, has tomatoes.

In case you were wondering, whatever those flavorists do to invent the flavor of McDonalds french fries they can manage without "animal extracts."  There was a big to-do over it a few years back, but the flavor still exists with 100% veggie oil.  For those of you in the US, don't get excited.  Our fries still have "animal extracts" in their flavoring, even if they are also cooked in 100% veggie oil.

Our second and even more exciting event was gathering up our good buddy Emily at the airport.  It is a very good thing that we went to get her because, left to her own devices she would have taken the city bus and we probably would never have seen her again.  The hotel was very hard to find.  We hired the hotel car to go to the airport and come back, so we would not have the same fiasco twice, and we even made a sign for Emily, which we faithfully held up until she came out of customs to us.  So we all had a jolly evening and for the next two weeks "we" will mean we three.  Yay!
