OK... so having sampled all the wine that we could find in Argentina, we decided to go for the other thing this country is famous for.... BARBEQUE!!!  Even a part-time meat eater like me can appreciate the setup they have here...

The place we went to had a queue of locals waiting for it to open outside... so we thought it was a safe bet that this was the business...  You go in and sit down, order drinks, take a plate and then run around helping yourself to pretty much any side dish you can think of...  Then the main event... the gigantic revolving BBQ... but not just a BBQ, more a rotissary-come-BBQ...  Here they have every kind of animal slowly cooking to perfection, along with blood and normal sausages and god knows what else!!

As I said, I don´t eat a lot of meat, and struggle to finish a steak usually, but this place was impressive... and the meat was, I have to say, out of this world... so tender and full of flavour...  I feel dirty writing that, but it´s the truth!!

The main event for me was the pasta counter... you pick your sauce and your pasta, and they heat it up on a massive gas flame... Even more impressive was watching the artist... (no, not chef, the man was a bloody artist!) making pancakes, flambéing them with whiskey and turning them with dulce con leche (which is kind of like caramel)... and they were DAMN tasty!!  Oh, and I forgot to mention... we were also treated to authentic(ish) Argentinian entertainment!!

The last thing we did in Mendoza was have a nice big hair-dying session, whereby Tom was transformed into my personal stylist... and you can see the end result here... OK, it´s quite a lot redder than we had planned, but I am quite enjoying looking like a Fraggle/Muppet :D

Also pictured here, is the result of Tom and I sitting in the ´Liverpool Pub´ for 5 hours... waiting for people to turn up, who hadn´t actually got the message that we were waiting for them...  But we had fun anyway, and I played in the park on the way home :D

So we´re still in Mendoza because the road to Chile was closed due to snow... but hopefully we will be able to get to Santiago tomorrow... and then you´ll get my roundup of Argentina from there!!
