Donsol is one of the few places where you are pretty much guarented to see whale sharks, as they are attracted here by the large amount of food that there are in the water. Whale sharks are the biggest fish in the sea, growing to as long as 15m. Unfortunately when I went there was a current which means that the whales sharks dive deep. However we did get to swim with one on a couple of occasions, the first for 20 minutes the second for 5. The whale shark was about 5-6 meters long, a young one then. It was fantastic to swim along side such a large creature, in fact it's the biggest animal
I've ever seen. The 15m ones much be incredible. There very slow and placid in the water and pose no threat, unless you got in the way of there mouth when it was open. Hopefully not the last time I'll get to swim with them.
