Battanbang
Today Dang and his friend Vanauc show up at the hotel with motor bikes to take us for a tour. We really only agree to this excursion because Dang said they needed to money to pay for their English lessons. We told them we didn't want to visit any more temples or killing fields so they decided to take us to a farm where the people distill rice whiskey, and the bamboo train. Both were worth seeing and the bike and train rides gave us a chance to see more of the country side. When we returned to Battanbang they took us to the market were Irina said she had seen large spiders being cooked. The boys were doubtful but followed Irina's directions. Sure enough a lady at the edge of market had spiders alive and cooked for sale. Irina hates spiders so it took a lot of nerve for her to even tell Arvid about them. 14 roasted spiders set up back 3000 riel. Arvid said they were much better than the beetles or even the crickets, which had been pretty good. But the just the thought of the spiders gave Irina the creeps.
