When we were planning our stay in Auckland we had made arrangements to stay with a third Couch Surfing host. However, he seems to have disappeared. He works nights and now that we are here we haven't been able to reach him by phone or e-mail. But we don't' feel too bad about that. After four days and nights living in other people's houses were ready for a room of our own. So we've decided to go back into Auckland city center and stay at the Shakespeare Brewery Tavern and Inn. We'll meet, Ben and Mary, some other travelers there that we know from on line communication who are traveling here from Australia. He's an Aussie and she's a Kiwi. We are hoping to spend a night on the town partying.

The Shakespeare Brewery Pub and Inn is located at number 6 Albert St., Auckland, N.Z. The place was established in 1899 and has lots of Victorian character. The pub part is what we expected an old English pub to look and feel like. And the patrons we all very friendly. The common areas of the hotel part looked pretty much original. But the rooms have been totally modernized. So, even though they are small, they are clean and comfortable. The cost was $90.00NZ. The only drawback was that our room was on the 4th floor and there was no elevator. We did not take a GPS reading there, because it's right in the busy city center, and as it turned out we did spend the night partying. But you could probably just type the address in on Google Earth. Tomorrow we're heading for Rotorua. The area has lots of Maori culture and also hot springs and geysers.
