Jumbo,
Here is a little information regarding the feeding program. The Mabroukie Feeding Program feeds 200-250 kids twice a week. This program is led by Pastor Peter and his wife Ruth. Peter is the Pastor of a very poor church called Mabroukie Maranatha Church, which use to sit in the middle of the tea plantation until the property was bought and they made them move! This feeding program survives totally on donations and has been shut down in the past for quite awhile do to lack of funds. Pastor Pete and Ruth bring the kids together twice a week and feed them a hot nutritious meal. This meal consists of rice and beans or maize and beans (gatheri), fruit and chai tea, (milk, sugar and tea). Ruth is the one who cooks the meal which takes all night to do! The load all the stuff in their little car along with their three boys and drive to the tea plantation to feed the kids. (no they do not live near by). They would like to be able to feed the kids 3 times a week and they are trusting in God that He will make it happen. Remember this is the only meal some of these kids receive for days. The cost to feed one child one meal is .55 if you would like to help the program you can send a check to:

The countryside is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
I agree with Ron! It is so beautiful. Do you know what kind of tea they grow and where it gets purchased?
Kathy - what an amazing blog. I was in Kenya in Dec/Jan 2011 with my family. We also stayed at HEART & visited WEEP at Kibera. You photos and stories are just amazing. I want to jump on the next plane back...
