Well not quite yet... two hours to go... but we are some excited!!! We'll do our best to keep you posted along the way, *if* we can squeeze a little computer time in to our busy schedule.
As is usual for us, we have far too many things planned -- good thing we're okay with cutting things out to just enjoy sitting at a cafe and watching the people go by.
Right now the plan is to arrive in Venice on the 18th and spend 3 days getting over the jet lag by walking the side alleys, sitting in churches admiring the paintings and eating gelato.
From there we have a week in Florence -- this will be our cultural, historical, architectural and artistic immersion!
We'll need a little recovery time so we're heading from there to Cinque Terre for 3 days -- this is a series of 5 coastal villages nestled along the Ligurian Sea (northwest). No cars, no museums, just a more quiet pace. The main activity here is hiking the rugged coastline, if we feel like it. Maybe we'll go for a quick swim or a boat ride. We'll see...
Last but not least, we have a week in the Eternal City: Roma! Of course we'll go to the Vatican and see the Colosseum, and we're staying a stone's throw from the Pantheon, so we'll go there too. But if all we manage is to go from piazza to piazza ordering espressos, that'll be a fine experience!
Ciao!
