Today I spent three hours looking for the right port. We want to go to Tallinn (Estonia) by boat. So I walked to the South Harbour (which I thought was the West harbour) in order to buy some tickets from a carrier called Tallink. When I arrived at the ticket counter, they told me to walk two km in "that" direction. "Just follow the beach". I did. It took me two hours. Exhausted I arrived at the West Harbour of Helsinki (which I previously thought to be the South Harbour), bought those damn tickets and hopped on a bus back to the hostel. It only took 10 minutes.
Life could be easy, if I would have asked someone before. If I wouldn't have thought to know it all. Because of global warming and this heavy down jacket of mine, the day has been quite warm and rough. I returned to the hostel all in sweat. Oh well. What a finnish experience. At least I noticed that Helsinki has a very beautiful beach. It must be even more beautiful in summer, when the weather isn't so grey.
We're off to Tallinn tonight. 18:30 with Tallink. One ticket for students is 17 €. Notice that they have a 5 € service charge now for every booking. (i.e. you pay 5 € extra when you purchase your tickets at the counter). Their website is: http://www.tallink.fi/.
Greetings to all of you Christmas survivors. :-).
by the way, I'm still taking photographs. Actually I'm taking more photographs than ever. Only that I don't have the time anymore to put them up here. You can see some of them here:
Just search for the places I have been ("Helsinki" or "Paris"). Mari puts up a lot more pictures than I do and she's getting better and better. Sometimes I look at her pictures just to get some new ideas, because her ideas are much more original than mine ;-). Check our here travelpod at www.travelpod.com/members/carita.
