from Nürnberg to Prague
It is rainy when we leave the house. Walking down the stairs of this house. Having descended them so often already. When shall I ascend them again? We want to meet in Nürnberg. So I go to Nürnberg now. It will take seven hours. Maria is driving me to the train station. What I'm about to do gives me such a strange feeling. Going to Georgia by train. Leaving home and everyone for Christmas. I can't think about this now. At the moment all I can think about is leaving. I really have to leave in order to get a clear head. A clear mind is important. Have a clear mind first, then do all the decisions. it's like this for me. In order to get a clear mind I need to travel. The movement of the landscape calms me down. I don't need to know where I'm going. I just need to move. movement means peace.

I step off the train. Nobody is waiting for me on the platform. For a moment I feel disappointment. Happiness and excitement follow at once. The first adventure has begun. Where is she? Where will I find her? Slowly I descend the stairs. People are moving around me like fish in the water. We are all swimming. Flourescent light softly permeates cold December air. Have you ever observed flourescent light in the water? Suddenly everybody turns right. I follow the masses instinctly. In the next moment I see a cute figure, wearing a white hat. Black hair is wallowing from underneath the white cover. It reminds me of the snow capped fig trees in winter. It's her. Such a bliss. Such a smile. Immediately we come towards each other and unite in a big embrace. Big gentle embrace.
Nürnberg is quite cold at the time. We decide to go shopping at the drug store. Afterwards we continue to our favourite restaurant. It's not just a restaurant. It's a brewery located in an old cellar. Downstairs the air is hot and full of warm talk. People enjoy crystal-clear beer and rough Bavarian cuisine. A waiter passes our table, carrying a dish on which there is a huge piece of meat pierced by a long knife.
We are exciteted about the food. Real food. We scan the environment and find that we are seated between many red faces. People are looking at us.
We are eating plates full of traditional cuisine. From the people who are sitting at the adjoining table we receive a lighter as a present. Our neighbors have been to China before. They are sport people, trainers. The Chinese culture has always fascinated them, they say. They are friendly people. We enjoy their company for a while and then get back to ourselves. The start of the trip is pleasant. We stay for another while, marvel at the location, drink many more beers. Finally we order more dishes. We love the traditional food. In the end, we leave.
Outside the cold makes me feel like I'm made out of glass and I'm about to shatter. We are walking through the ancient city. Nobody is awake. Lonely we are wandering through the deserted streets. We are searching for a restaurant where we could smoke a water pipe. Baidi is too tired. I'm carrying her bag for some time. Now she feels better. The only restaurant open is burger king. We rush inside. After having ordered cappuchino, we try not to fall asleep. Distracting music roars from the speakers of television set. When I was a kid MTV played excellent music. Now it all seems trashy to me.
Some people from my old school walk in. They recognize me, but look away instantly. I don't want to recognize them. The music is destroying the last bit of our nerves. We leave again. Walking towards the train station. What to do now? We go upstairs and hope find the train waiting there for us. It is not. Try to warm ourselves in the waiting room . It is too cold. We return downstairs. Waiting and sleeping inside MC-Donald's. A couple is argueing about their relationship. Baidi is asleep. I take pictures with my analogue camera.
Strange people hang out here at night. Mostly old people. Nothing to do with their lives anymore. Not members of the society, it seems. Husband leaves wife. She cries "asshole". He doesn't care. Just walks out of the fast food hall. She yells "you still have my key, you ass". He still doesn't care. Just walks on. She gets up hastily, running after him. Finally it is two o'clock. I wake her up and we ascend the stairs once more. The train is too late. It is cold again. Finally we enter. We find a compartment for our own. We fall asleep at once.
At the border somebody enters with a noise. The border guards. No problem for me. Police look at Baidi with distrust. I feel discrimination and uncertainty. They can't do anything. Just return the passport and leave as noisily as they came. We fall asleep again. After some rest we are woken up by a stranger. We are already in Prague. We missed the arrival. Sort of embarrassed we get up. Pack our stuffs hastily. Leave the train. Get our back packs in order outside. Then take the fist pictures.
