Having been on a mini-break as a rest from our major-break we are back in Italy exhilirated and exhausted and so we headed for the sea.  A swim in the Adriatic and a bit of beach fun is just what we need before we start heading North for the Alps and what for some reason feels like the road home.

I have found my attempt at blog interaction hasn't worked so we'll be keeping the dead fish and the bottle of wine for ourselves! You'd have probably wanted it that way.  In a way its reassuring that not too many of you are keeping tight tabs on the blog so I don't even have to apologise for the hundreds of photos and day to day banalities that I keep uploading (We're using the blog to upload all our photos so we don't lose them if we lose the laptop). Having managed a few comic anecdotes earlier on I've struggled to find anything humourous to recount of late.  Lyd will probably agree that this is largely because I've not been feeling very humourous.  I think my body is finally getting used to the 8 espressos I've been having daily as I struggle to refine the perfect coffee with this percolator thingy I bought in Rome.  I'm a long way off a Monmouth (reference for the new Mr and Mrs Molly and Rob - Hooray).

Sottomarina turns out to be a very busy place. Rows and rows of campsites with rows and rows of tents and rows and rows of sun loungers.  The Italians love it and have suddenly arrived in huge numbers after we initially thought it was a quiet ish place.  We keep wondering whether high season is starting and we'll never find a quiet lakeside spot again.   There is definitely no local tea bag supply or British newspaper for sale but the Laguna does provide fertile allotments and everyone is keen to sell us freshly picked courgettes, carrots, basil, tomatoes and lettuce.
