After an endless drive up, down and up and then down winding roads we found an amazing campsite somewhere up in the mountains. It was supposed to be a 3hr drive but Margaret (our Navigator) hadn't taken into account the yellow bus' slow and steady style or the 2 children inside and their desire for an Easter Bunny Hunt at a Roadside Cafe. Thank you Dave and Esther who supplied us with Alan (our campsite book) and Margaret and while we enjoy questioning and rubbishing their advice and decisions the few occasions when we go solo have proved they are actually invaluable!
We are sat under the shadow of a huge Pyrenean cliff - Pena Montenesa - and just beside a beautiful hilltop monastery town and stoney stream.
Meal times are tricky as Red Kites (so we've been told by a Camping and Caravanning Club Member) have been circling round and round and clearly have their eye on something down here. Could it be our dinner?
The Vegetarian Londoners Abroad Camping Menu is as follows:
Breakfast - Cornflakes, Porridge, Toast - Mr Kellogs is around but the Quakers aren't so easy to find.
Lunch - Tiny sliced bread sandwiches anyone? Spiky cucumbers. Endless gorgeous fruit.
Dinner - Not much different than at home - Pasta, Rice and Mash in strict rotation. We have a VW Camper Cookbook and occasionally look at it for ideas before going back to our usual. The Chocolate Cake in a frying pan looks interesting. I'll save that for when we're away from the Red Kites.
