We dropped off the van without a problem, at the Jucy garage near the centre of Auckland. Finding our hostel was easy and before we knew it, we were back in a "proper" room which had a "proper" bed. Having said that, the bed in the van was possibly the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. Still, it was nice to have more than 3 feet of room above our heads!
The few days we spent in Auckland were pretty uneventful. We walked around the city and found a nice Belgian bar which we went to most evenings (mmmmmmmmm.... wine!). We also watched some kind of shoe advert being filmed... it wasn't very exciting. It was mostly the crew trying to film a dog looking at a woman's shoes. The dog didn't seem to understand the concept.
It seemed to be the biggest and busiest city we had been to in New Zealand, but there didn't seem to be much to see there... which is why we didn't feel inspired to take any photos. Sorry everyone!
We absolutely loved our time in New Zealand: It waaaaaay exceeded our expectations. It's such a beautiful and unique country, with the friendliest people you'll possibly ever meet (aside from the Vietnamese of course!).
The time had come to cross our first ocean of the trip, and to cross the international date line... We were heading to Canada!
