After a good nights sleep, we were ready to venture out for our first full day in Carmel. The weather was very cool for these Louisiana girls, but the sun came out and it was a beautiful day - approximately 60 degrees.

Unfortunately, we had a little accident before our departure.  Heidi fell outside while tidying up our patio. She scraped her leg and it will surely be bruised tomorrow.  After cleaning the wound and stopping the bleeding (and a few aspirin), she was ready to go - a real trooper.  That would never stop a yaya!

We started the day with Mass at The Carmel Mission Basilica, a beautiful National Historic Landmark. The grounds of the Mission are lovely and we spent time wandering around and enjoying everything before heading to Carmel for lunch. We had a delicious lunch at the Village Corner Bistro and enjoyed the time getting to hear the latest news on everyone's families.

Now that we had nourishment, we were ready to explore the town.  We wandered in and out the interesting little shops. Bobbie and Jonelle purchased t-shirts for their grandchildren and other souvenirs were bought.  We enjoyed looking at all the beautiful clothes and Bobbie found an adorable "princess dress" for her 3 year old granddaughter - but the $250 price tag was a little steep!

We walked down to the Pacific Ocean and enjoyed the beautiful view. Many people were swimming and sunbathing - seemed a little cold for that to us! After enjoying the view of the ocean, Pebble Beach, and all the activity on the beach, we headed back to "Ms. Goldy" .The stroll back was uphill, but it was good to get the exercise and Heidi's injury didn't slow her down at all.  We headed back to the car and to our lovely Carmel home for the week.  Nancy, Bobbie, Jonelle and I went to the grocery and picked up snacks and munchies for the week, while Heidi, Mary Jane and Rita held down the bar.  We came back to the house and Nancy prepared a large salad and we had some delicious bread to go with it.
