You know you're flying to Dublin when a woman sitting next to you in her 70s orders two shots of vodka and a glass of wine during one hour flight. I thought to myself, my kind of town... This is why I purposely bought my ticket to spend my first weekend in Dublin.
Along with the Frenchman I met at the hostel, we headed out to Temple Bar. Temple bar is crowded, noisy, vibrant, and as one Irishman puts it, it's one big melting pot of drunks. Not so different from LA... But it's quite different. I've read that the Irish are friendly and down to earth by default and it's absolutely true. I was able to meet some locals at the pub and you instantly feel welcome. Everyone I met was fun and very inviting. And they drink, drink, and drink. Not so surprised...
