Beautiful sunshine again today. At our rider meeting this morning the Jackson's announced the arrival of their new granddaughter, Anika. Congratulations to the Jackson family.
Set out with final planned destination being Nelson. We took the ferry in Shelter Bay . We met up with the "children of the ground" (Byron's name for the six bikes and their drivers/passengers who are camping on this trip) and then dorve up to Naskup and while standing buying fruit at a local stand, 30 of us made an imprompto plan to go to a restaurant recommended in biker's magazines called The Mushroom Addition. Great food, all menu items obviously featuring the mushroom Headed on to New Denver, more breathtaking scenery, including personally encountering a bear coming out at one point on the side of the road.. tried to snap a picture but I was caught by surprise and I think I managed to get a picture of the road. The most outstanding part of the journey was between New Denver and Slocan, very windy roads with an incredible view looking wayyyyyyyyy down into the river below.
Nelson is a very pretty town. Thirty three degrees when we arrived. Rooms have view of the mountains and river. No forest fire smoke anywhere today to spoil the view. Will set out from here tomorrow and head to Kelowna
