June 1 Wednesday Zion National Park Ruby's Inn, Bryce, UT

On the road at last and head for the lodge area where we get off the bus and get on a park shuttle to take us to Temple of Sinawava trail head. We wander up the trail along he river. It's really rushing along! The walk is lined with beautiful rock formations- colorful and unique. Weeping walls with water dripping from the Navajo Sandstone. It's very porous and holds water which then drips out from the surface. Plants take advantage of the water and cracks to thrive. Some of them are hanging way up the side if the cliff. Amazing!

We bump into animals that aren't afraid of us including mule deer. They are obviously protected within the park.

Box lunch at the visitor center which is old lodge building. Then travel through the tunnel to the east. Carved out of the rock with "gallery windows" spaced out to look back at the hills. The ride is one of many geologic moments we'll experience, seeing a diversity of trees and rock as we make the long ride all afternoon toward Ruby's Inn in Bryce Canyon City. The motel has several motel buildings and we end up a the farthest away from the lodge, but we're across from a pond.

Ruby's store has everything you could need to visit/camp out in Bryce. Dinner is in the lodge. Buffet again, but not as large a selection as Chuck.. Photo op of sun setting over the trees and pond. Then bundle up in bed.
