Luggage out by 8 am- I beat the dead line by just 15 minutes. Then breakfast- usual "egg porridge"- maybe someday they're figure out you can cook eggs just a tad longer! We start to gather in the lobby by 8:30. Myrta joins us to say goodbye- she'll be staying on for another day before going to Lima, Miami, Zurich and Stuttgart to visit before returning to Israel through Zurich. What a long trip for her!

Then we're off to the airport- an opportunity for more shopping for some. I don't see anything of interest & figure I'll wait til Sunday. I'll have nearly a full day in Lima before my plane leaves.

We finally arrive at the hotel- nearly 1:30. Dan & Kirsten have arranged an extra tour of the Museo Nacion that we skipped on our first visit since it's undergoing some construction. About 20 or so of us quickly drop stuff in our rooms and run back down. We have the bus until 5, so we have to make it quick. This museum has the typical overview in chronological order of the different cultures, but what I'm really interested in is the Caral exhibit- an opportunity to get the Caral book that I missed out at the site So, I hunt for the book- book store, gift shop- no luck. Vinnie says he thought he saw them right outside the exhibit, so I go back through and check with a couple young girls who are giving out tickets at the entrance- yes, giving them out! We mime question & answer until I come to understand that the person who sells the books & the books themselves are not available- the books are locked up in a cabinet. But they ask me to wait & they will locate the person with the key. I do- not with much hope- but they find a young man with the key. He not only sells me the book but also gives me a poster advertising the exhibit. Very nice- but I'm concerned how I'll get it home undamaged. Bozena has a couple "rubbers" that she lends me to hold it rolled up. Keep our fingers crossed!

Back at the hotel room I have nearly 2 hours before dinner. I try out the new alpaca sweater (itchy but looks good)- & iron a pair of pants- this is my so-called dressy outfit for the farewell dinner.

I have to begin taking inventory of all the gifts- figuring out value for customs as well as who gets what. I guess I could use about 6 more to cover everyone on the list. Then we're off to dinner- a very nice restaurant that's actually built next to an archaeological. site- cool way to end the trip. There's lots of photo taking of ourselves this time. Then many hugs at the hotel since folks will be leaving at many different times between tonight and tomorrow night.

Then up to bed, where I find Al Bear tucked in by the maid! I don't have to set the alarm for once. No need to get up early except for breakfast. I read for a couple hours before turning in.
