We've made it safely to our hotel in Parsippany, NJ. It is a very nice Hampton Inn in a business district, so we feel safe here. We are probably about 30 minutes west of New York City. Let me tell you, it is very tempting to call the boss and tell him I won't be in on Monday. Wes and I love NYC and would love to visit since we are so close, but we are going to be responsible little worker bees and head back for work. :-(

The drive was pretty hairy today, especially the portion I drove. Wes got us through Maine and then I took over in New Hampshire, just in time to wait in the 5-mile line for the NH toll booth. Then we hit a very heavy downpour in upper Massachusetts (while I was still driving) and another multi-mile line for the toll on the Mass Turnpike. Even though I only drove a couple of hours, I felt like I had driven the whole trip by the time we switched drivers in Connecticut. Those New Englanders are aggressive drivers, something I surely am not. I never thought I would say this, but we were SO glad to see the New Jersey state line! :-) The traffic actually thinned out a bit on 287. A trip that should have taken us a little less than nine hours took us over ten.

We head for home tomorrow with about a nine-hour trip ahead us. I hope that traffic isn't as bad tomorrow for the drive home. Please pray for our safety, because our nerves are about shot! :-)
