Philadelphia is the home of the Cheese Steak Sandwedge. Unfortunatly, being vegetarian, we were unable to try this local delicacy. But apparently there pretty good and one of Phili`s many unhealthy specialities.

While we were in New York virtually every take-away or deli offered an Atkins friendly meal. There were posters everywhere offering Low Carb meals. New Yorkers are pretty obsessed with dietary fads it seems. This is not the case in Phily, where they eat what they want, as long as its full of fat and unhealthy. It made a refreshing change.

What was still evident was the anti British sentiment from Boston. Philidelphia is where the declaration of Independence was signed and the home of the Liberty Bell. Ironically the Bell, that great symbol of American Liberty, was made in England. It`s actually got a big crack in it now because they rang it too much. Shame.

Phily was is nice relaxed city. Their only main tourist attraction, other than the two mentioned, are the steps Silvester Stallone ran up while training in Rocky 1.

We are starting to get into the travelling groove now. When we first set off we were trying to fit too much into each day, and becoming very tired as a result. We have now adopted a much more relaxed attitude of rest and relaxation with a bit of sight seeing thrown in.

Next stop Washington DC.
