This morning we headed into downtown Santa Fe and "Old Town". To get an overall view of the city we took a city tour in an open-air tram driven by a tour guide that gave us a wonderful experience. The tour covered a loop around the city that included historical areas, he also gave us an extensive lecture on the city's history, a tour of the art gallery area, residential neighborhoods and he pointed out various museums. After the tour we walked around the central plaza taking in the flavor of the city, this included viewing the open air market where the Indians sell jewelry and trinkets, art studios and galleries, souvenir stores, jewelry stores and clothing stores. Midafternoon we headed to the revitalized “Railyard” for a late lunch at a Mexican restaurant that was recommended to us, it proved to be worth the wait, as it was very good. After lunch we walked around “The Railyard” which is a collection of old buildings that have been converted into stores and art galleries, we didn’t buy anything but it was a nice way to spend the afternoon. After that we headed back to the camper to prepare for travel tomorrow, this included doing some much needed laundry.
