To start the tour of the NZ wine regions and continuing the good
beginnings of wine tasting from Argentina, we visited the north
island's Hawkes Bay wine region, starting at the Esk Winery and then
on to the oldest in the region, the Mission winery where the Adonis
served us (Jenny, Bek and Emma all smiling sweetly at him whilst he
talked solely to Dan, hmmm). From here, it was getting towards
closing time so we visited the Church Road winery, where a NZ Pat
Butcher lookalike with the manner and earrings to match served us up
some NZ delights. Bek had assured us that Napier was going to be
quite bustly so a great place for us to go out..unfortunately the
reality was a gray ghost town, so we continued south to a
particularly pikey camper park, where most of the motor homes had
probably been for the last 20 years. Dinner with Bek and her family
ensured any worries about the surroundings were short lived.
