Where I stayed
After my breakfast I read my book and finished it. As it was raining again reading was the only thing to do.. Every day it gets a bit better, but still rain. The tribe members told me they never had such a bad weather in a row before.. Rain for almost a week, and not just a drizzle, but heavy rain.
After I finished my book, I took a walk around the island, see if I could take some photos of the woman in their traditional dresses, as normally if you want to take a photo you have to pay USD$ 1.00 and as I have a great zoom on my camera
When I walked around the island I also found another accommodations called hostal nadi. Funny I only found it now, as the island is small and only 400 people live here, but it was hidden in a corner of the island.
I made some nice photos and went back to my accommodation and started another book, Afke found it in the hotel here the book is called "Mijn Vrijhied - Ayaan Hirsi Ali (ISBN 90-457-0112-x)". It's about a former dutch politician who left The Netherlands because of dead treads.
I read till it was lunch time, and for lunch I had some vegetables, rice and some fresh fish they caught this morning. Nice..
After lunch I asked Orlando my guide if I could see the National Kuna museum, he said if the rain would calm down we would go. Around approx 13:00 we went to El Porvenir the island next door with the airstrip. When we arrived I had a look around in the museum. But this was a short visit to the museum as it only takes max 15 min to get trough the whole museum
So I had a bit of a look around on the island. Funny to see so many people on the island, this is because via the mainland and with a boat you can't get back to Panama City anymore because of floods the roads are washed away, so everyone comes here to fly back. But there is only one plane a day. So people have to wait.
After our visit to El Porvenir we went to Nalunega the island down south of the island where my hotel is. As Orlando had to bring some stuff to his home, as he lives there. I browsed around a bit, and it was really sad to see so many drunk people on the island. Alcohol is really a problem on some of the islands :(
After a browse for 30 min I walked to Orlando's house and he suggested to go fishing, what I asked for yesterday.. So we went with our boat down South. We went fishing for approx an hour and didn't catch anything, maybe tomorrow. But while fishing we saw a pot with approx 30 or 40 dolphins what is always nice ;)
After fishing we went back to the accommodation, and arrived back around 15:30.
When we where back on the island we also saw a plane coming in approx every hour, so I guess the tourist who where stuck on El Porvenir are no picked up, as we saw approx 4 extra planes.
After a while I noticed that now the weather was getting better, more and more people came out of their huts.. I had a look at the teenagers who where playing baseball and two kids who where playing soccer..
I asked to join the guys who where playing soccer, so we started a game 2 a side.. Some exercise as I brought my "running" shoes, but the island is too small for running. So a game of 2 a side is not bad ;)
I played soccer till 17:45, had a quick shower and at 18:00 my dinner was ready.. Fish and chips (french fries) with veggies.. After dinner I walked to the store to buy a can of soda and got my laptop out and watched a movie.
When I started the "classic" movie (All quiet on the western front) approx 5 locals joined me to watch, I think they never saw a movie on a laptop before.. So that was nice.. Around 20:30 the movie finished and we went to bed.
Finished my book Jackson Collins - Drop Dead Beautiful (ISBN 978-1-84739-315-9)
Museum entrance USD$ 2.00
Can of soda @ USD$ 0.40
