After we loaded up the car, Anna and I drove with Jake, Nik and Bandit out to San Diego.  It was a pleasant drive and the boys watched movies on their PSPs.

It was strange to walk into our old home especially since no one has been living in it for a while.  Within one hour, some of our “old” high school friends came to pick us up to go to Ocean beach for the 80’s Big hair reunion.  It was great to see my friends from high school.  There was a couple that I didn‘t remember but for the most part, everyone looked the same.  Some of the guys still had the long hair!  I wonder where they work now that Tower records is closed??!!!  We had a great time catching up and listening to the bands.   Anna and I actually stayed until it closed or rather until we were driven out by the bar owners.

Early every morning, we packed a lunch and headed down to La Jolla Shores.  We spent the days boogie boarding, talking and reading.  The water was cold but Nik stayed in the water all day.  By the end of the week, he was so chafed from the boogie board that he walked like a cowboy!  One day on the beach, the lifeguards announced that there was lots of sting rays and leopard sharks in the water.  Luckily we didn't get to encounter any.

The beach was jam packed with people which we are not used to.  But Nikolas absolutely loved the waves, if only the Bahamas had waves, we would have everything he says.  It was fun to watch the people on the boardwalk, you definitely see some weirdos.  I had never been to a beach where you could not drink a beer.  Supposedly they have changed the laws in San Diego that there is no alcohol or smoking allowed on the beach and its strictly enforced.  That would never happen in the Bahamas!
