We got a taxi to the harbor, Puerto Madero and got the ferry over to Uruguay. We opted for the ferry that took only 1 hour instead of 3 hours.
I heard that alot of people that are living and studying in Buenos Aires go over to Uruguay to renew their 90 day visas!
We got into Colonia de Sacramento and were met by our walking guide. She took us on a tour of the small and quaint town of Colonia. I don't think the tour took more that 1/2 hour which is just about right as we like to explore ourselves
We decided to rent a go cart and drive around the town a bit. It was so much fun but it was freezing cold. The wind was blowing ice. My hands were frozen stiff and we both had scarves covering our mouths and nose! We looked like bandits! We drove up the coast and stopped to check out the beach. However, its hard to appreciate a beach with brown sand and brown water! Boy, have we been spoiled with the Bahamian clear blue waters!
Uruguay was a nice change from Buenos Aires. It was clean and quiet and very picturesque! We had heard that the sunsets on the dock was the best and should not be missed. As we sat on the dock with our 2 dog ambassadors, I do have to agree that the sunset was one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen.
