If you check one position in my trip you can check this one with google earth
First of all, if you are going near the north pole, please make sure that there is no marathon!
I arrived in Svalbard (for those who wants to read a book in english: Northern lights from Philippe Pullman) in the beginning of the afternoon, and I ve tried to find a place to sleep in Longyearbiern, but due to bloody marathon, any single room dorm or whatsoever was already booked!!! You're near the north pole and you don t have any warm and safe place to sleep!
Hopefully, for me at 6PM someone canceled his room in a guest house and I could use it
The bad point is that it was only for one night and that I was obliged to booked earlier than forecasted my way back to Tromso.
Once, I had a room I put my alarm around 11PM in order to continue my northern light hunting, but I wake up there was still a nice bright sun: Welcome in North pole!
I did not see northern lights, but I could admire the midnight sun then the 1 o'clock sun then the 2 o'clock sun then....During few month!
