Nikki and I were surprised at how tiny the centre of Ljubljana is and also how empty it seemed.  Could we really be the only tourists here in August?

Pleased with our choice of accommodation - a hotel situated inside Ljubljana's only camp site, with daily access to the Laguna Waterpark, we decided to walk into the centre of town.  This was perhaps the least inspiring walk ever; one long straight road passing residential blocks of flats, tall office blocks, the occasional supermarket, hotel, casino - all built from concrete. Picturesque it was not!
After what felt like hours we arrived in the centre of town - small, quaint and totally empty... where the hell is everyone?

Walked along the river to an area called Krakovo which is still very central, but has tiny chalet style houses each with their own allotment.  If only London could be more like this!

Found a fantastic little restaurant there called Pri Skofju (at rečna ul. 8) and dined outside in the warmth of the evening, then took a bus back to the hotel - The walk here was definitely not worth repeating in reverse!
